Ben Rubin is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Carbon Business Council, a global coalition of more than 100 carbon management organizations that is building the economic and policy foundations for long-term deployment. Together, the Carbon Business Council coalition engages with policymakers, partners, and market leaders to ensure carbon management develops with integrity and impact. Ben is also the Publisher of the Carbon Herald, which is the carbon management industry’s preeminent media outlet. Ben is regularly featured in national media outlets, including Bloomberg, Axios, and Politico. He speaks on national and international stages about responsibly scaling the carbon removal market.

He is a Research Fellow with the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal at American University. He has advised state, national and international governments and previously served on the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee at the U.S. Department of Commerce, a federal appointment position.

Ben has been advancing energy innovation throughout his career, leading initiatives for companies, accelerators, governments and nonprofits. His work has galvanized billions of dollars in climate infrastructure funding, passed legislation, and reached hundreds of millions of people through public affairs campaigns. Previously, he led energy portfolios at Climate Nexus, Kivvit, and the California Governor’s Office. Ben graduated with honors from Pitzer College.
