Carbon Business Council to Spotlight Carbon Removal at Energy Transition Europe 2025

The Carbon Business Council will join leaders across Europe’s energy and finance sectors in London to highlight the role of high-integrity carbon removal in achieving net-zero goals

October 15, 2025 — As Europe accelerates its path toward net zero, the Carbon Business Council will join leaders at Reuters Energy Transition Europe 2025 Summit as a media partner to elevate carbon removal as a key part of the continent’s strengthened energy and climate strategy.

Taking place 21-22 October in London, the summit will highlight the rapid innovation and policy momentum behind carbon removal solutions, and how these technologies can complement emissions reductions to deliver a net-zero energy system.

The Carbon Business Council’s Executive Director Ben Rubin will moderate two key panels that explore critical questions at the intersection of innovation, infrastructure, and climate ambition:

  • “Powering the Data Revolution: How Low-Carbon Energy Can Fuel the Surge in Data Center Demand”: examining how Europe can meet skyrocketing digital energy needs while cutting emissions and maintaining grid stability.

  • “Scaling Carbon Capture and Storage: The Role of CCS in Achieving Europe’s Net-Zero Goals”: bringing together experts from industry, finance, and government to assess the pathways for responsible carbon management and permanent emissions reduction.

Hosted by Reuters Events, the summit brings together policymakers, financiers, utilities, and innovators shaping the energy transition. This year’s discussions will explore not only how to decarbonize Europe’s energy mix, but also how to build confidence in emerging solutions that can help balance the carbon budget.

“Carbon removal is gaining traction across markets in Europe,” said Ben Rubin. “We’re encouraged to see carbon removal being included in high-level energy transition discussions, as it signals a new phase for climate innovation and responsible market growth and we’re looking forward to the discussions during Energy Transition Europe 2025.”

Energy Transition Europe 2025 offers a timely opportunity for the carbon removal community to engage directly with decision-makers across the energy value chain. The summit will convene over 250 leaders from utilities, financial institutions, policymakers, and technology innovators, including representatives from EDF Renewables, the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, ENGIE, the International Finance Corporation, and the European Space Agency.
